Welcome to the inaugural season of the East Howard County Jaguars!

 

My name is Rachel Gracia and along with Elaine Reese will be your cheer directors for the 2019 season for the East Howard County Jaguars. A little background on our new organization for those of you who are joining us as a new family, the East Howard County Jaguars was created as a combination of two organizations the Elkridge Hurricanes and the Ellicott City Patriots and this is our first year together! Elaine and I have been directing/coaching for the Hurricanes together for the past 6 years and we are excited to continue our journey together with the Jaguars. We are going to do our very best to take the greatness of both of these two programs and make it into one great organization! We pride ourselves on creating a family like atmosphere where both parents and children make friends for a lifetime and we are excited that you are joining our family!! Your directors and coaches can’t wait to see you all in just a few short weeks!  In this email you will find information for August camp, additional items you’ll need to purchase, and some season information.

 

August Camp:

 

 

  • All girls will need a Medical Release form signed by their Doctor before they can participate in camp. The form is located on the Jaguars website under parent forms. Cheerleaders will not be able to participate in camp/practices until we have this form. 

  • They will also need a Cheerleader Code of Conduct, Parent Code of Conduct, and a Participant Information Form, all to be turned in on their first day of camp. 

  • August 8th-9th will be for first year cheerleaders only. If this is your first year cheering, you’ll start camp on August 8th. 

  • Returning cheerleaders will begin camp August 12th

  • Camp will run from August 8th through August 30th Monday through Thursday 6pm-8pm, No Fridays

  • Camp will be held at Hollifield Station Elementary School 8701 Stonehouse Dr, Ellicott City, MD 21043

  • The girls should bring to camp a water bottle and towel

  • They should wear tight fitting shirt/shorts, hair in a high ponytail, cheer shoes (if they have them) or athletic shoes, and socks

  • Please make sure they use the bathroom before practice as it takes time away from practice. 

 

Additional Items to Purchase

  • The county will provide the uniform top and shorts.

  • Required items to purchase are bow (more info to come on this as we get closer to the beginning of the season), white no show socks (can be purchased at any major retailer), and cheer shoes

  • We will be using the Nfinity Rival shoe for this season. These can be purchased from Omnicheer.com, championteamwear.comamazon.com, and nfinity.com

  •  These shoes are usually about 1.5-2 sizes smaller than what your daughter would normally wear, for example if she wears a size 5 you could order a 6.5

  • Optional items to purchase: practice wear, warmups, spirit wear, and sweats. These items will be available on our website and we will send that information out when the website opens. Once it gets cold the girls will need to wear their warmups. If you do not purchase warmups they will need a black sweatshirt and black sweatpants/leggings, something along those lines so we can look uniform as a team.

 

Season Information:

  • The practice schedule will be sent out as soon as possible. Please note we cannot create teams and practice nights till our registration is complete which is usually not until the second week of August.

  • Teams will typically practice twice a week (Mon/Wed, Tues/Thurs) from 6-8pm. This is just an example.

  • We begin the season practicing at Hollifield Station Elementary and possibly Rockburn Branch Park depending on when we get permits to get into the schools. Once our permits begin we move indoors to Elkridge Landing Middle School, Elkridge Elementary School, and Thomas Viaduct Middle School (more info to come on dates when we move inside)

  • Games are every Saturday starting in September. The game schedule will not be out till late August/Early September. We cannot create the game schedule for the girls until the League sends us the football schedule. As soon as we can get that information we will try to make the game schedule as quickly as possible so we can get those dates/times to you ASAP.

  • Competition will be in November and we will need to certify rosters in September. Your daughter will need a Maryland ID for this. Please visit the MVA as soon as possible to get a MD State ID. (check website for info needed) 

  • Uniform fittings will be during camp, we will be sending a schedule out closer to the beginning of camp. There will be a form and deposit needed (more info to come). 

  • If you are on Facebook, be sure to find our group: East Howard Jaguars Cheer Parents Lots will be shared via this group that we will not otherwise share on our website (videos and words to our cheers)
